I love getting manicures! As I mentioned last year, one of my favorite blogs for nails, beauty and hair is The Beauty Department.

Over the year, I have seen many different ways to decorate nails and while I have attempted to accomplish some of the designs myself, I tend to give up out of pure frustration. It takes a very steady hand and a talented manicurist to make some of the designs possible and I just don’t have the patience for it.

In a perfect world, my nail designs would change daily to match my outfit. Until I have my very own manicurist on staff, that goal is going to have to wait. :)

Check out some of my favorite designs…

It is our pleasure to introduce you to Kristen and Christopher. Their February 2012 wedding is quickly approaching and we are incredibly excited to be assisting with all of the details.

Kristen and Christopher are having a rustic – country themed wedding at The Thursday Club and to be honest, we cannot wait to see the details come together day of. Of course, we will be sharing their pictures on our blog after the wedding.

It’s Eventity’s tradition to have our blog followers “meet” our couples through a little Q&A so, without further ado…

*****

How did you two meet?

We met in a tight fitting jeans contest at InCahoots in Mission Valley. We both ended up placing third and Kristen decided to ask Christopher out because she was so impressed by his dance moves. We talked everyday after that. :)

What is the first thing you noticed about one another?

Kristen first noticed Christopher’s dance moves and outgoing personality. The first thing Christopher noticed about Kristen was her sense of humor.

What is your favorite thing about him? What is your favorite thing about her?

My favorite thing about Christopher is how outgoing and fun he is. He definitely doesn’t care what other’s think of him, which makes for some pretty hilarious situations; never a dull moment. He is also super caring and loveable. I never knew that guys like him still existed.

It’s hard to name just one thing that makes Kristen perfect for me. What I love about her most is her outgoingness, sense of humor and that she challenges me to be a better person. She is my soul mate.

How did he/she propose?

Unfortunately, there was nothing special about the proposal. The specialness lies in the mutual feelings of happiness that we shared that day.

What were your immediate thoughts after the proposal?

WOW! I can’t believe this is happening; complete confusion because it came out of nowhere! Never saw it coming!

What are you most excited about for your upcoming wedding?

Our first dance. We met line dancing and wanted the most memorable part of our reception to reflect the last 3 years of the day we first met.

We love these answers! So honest and genuine… and the “outgoingness” of this couple it 100% accurate – they are firecrackers and we LOVE IT! We can’t wait to see Kristen and Christopher say “I do.”

Our favorite make up artist is at it again! Last year Nikki introduced Jenn and Monica to the Clairsonic. The Clairsonic has become a daily face wash routine to them. Now, Nikki is introducing another awesome product, called the Clairsonic Opal. We can’t wait to get our hands on one and get rid of those little lines…

****

Turn back the hands of time in as little as sixty seconds! The Clarisonic Opal combats visible signs of aging, and for that reason it just might be my new hero product! Just like the Clarisonic cleansing system, the Opal was also developed by the lead inventor of the Sonicare toothbrush. This system uses sonic technology with Clarisonic’s own Anti-Aging Serum to improve the skins elasticity and reduce the appearance of puffiness and dark circles around the eye area. This handheld device infuses products into the skin deeper and more effectively than you are able to do using your fingertips alone. The skin around our eyes is so incredibly delicate and most of us are way too rough when applying eye cream with our fingers, the Opal’s gentle vibrations wiggle the product deep down into the skin, delivering an immediately noticeable reduction in fine lines and wrinkles. But don’t be fooled, the Opal is not your average one trick pony…it can be used in conjunction with any eye cream, serum or moisturizer; and it has also been said to improve laugh and frown lines significantly as well as deep wrinkles above the upper lip! Serums and creams are absorbed deeper and more evenly, enhancing their ability to promote healthy, hydrated and younger looking skin.

A little secret, you can use the Opal in combination with any acne spot treatment on blemishes too!

In prior posts we’ve mentioned considering different layouts for your ceremony.  Instead of the traditional theatre-style seating, you have the option to mix it up and create a half moon or complete circle with you, your fiancé and Officiant in the middle.

Our recommendations don’t just stop there though.  Thanks to our addiction to Pinterest, we have more ideas to share with you on how to decorate your ceremony alter or entire site. :)

Enjoy and happy decorating!

In honor of February, the month for lovers, we thought it would be a good time to post some inspirational floral photos.  You’ll see from the images below they range in design, inspiration and… don’t be deceived they’re not all made out of real flowers.

Look closely! :)

One of our May 2012 brides brought this idea to our attention and we LOVE it (Thanks Sarah!) She planned a cruise trip with her girlfriends for her bachelorette party. Why haven’t we thought of this!?

This is a fantastic way to turn your celebration into a 3 night experience (or more if you want). In addition to a mini-vacation with the girls, most cruises are all inclusive and several leave from the San Diego port (talk about convenient!)

If you’ve never been on a cruise, they really have a lot to offer – from pools to nightclubs, to food available at all hours.  Plus, if you decide to head South you can venture to Cabo San Lucas or Puerto Vallarta!

We love this idea and it’s certainly a great way to make girl’s night out last longer!

We hope our bride, Sarah has tons of fun! :)

Alright, so you’re probably thinking, “Tulle? What’s new about tulle?”  We originally thought that too especially since we see it in wedding dresses regularly but, there is something new and we are excited to share it.

Take a look at the inspirations below.  There are new ways to dress up your wedding day that don’t involve having a tulle wedding dress.

About 75% of our best men and maids of honor get the nervous-nelly-jitters when it comes to doing their speech.  We’ve seen a variety of approaches… from the “I’m just gonna wing it after these three beers” to the strategically written on 3×5 cards with a second back-up copy in the purse approach.  Every person is different and what works well for some doesn’t always work for others.

For instance, the impromptu speech after three beers can either be really entertaining or really uncomfortable (for EVERYONE).  On the opposite side of the spectrum, if the entire speech is read from a paper, it can seem too formal or ‘canned’.

We always recommend some preparation though – actually 3 -5 written bullets covering the highlights that you plan to mention seems to be a good approach.

In addition to speaking from your heart and telling a few good stories about the bride, groom or both, make sure you end the speech on a high note.  Below are a few examples that always seem to make all involved feel warm and fuzzy inside.

“Here’s to the groom, a man who kept his head even while he lost his heart.”

“May your love be added, may it never be subtracted, may your household multiply, and may your hearts never be divided!!”

And for a funny one,

“Here’s to the bride – may she share everything with her husband…and that includes the housework.”

On a much lighter note, some people like the funny speech approach.  This site is a link to a speech done by best man Ben Travis.  It’s a bit lengthy but quite humorous.

Some couples seem to savor the thought of doing regular vow renewals while others like to do it once at the wedding only.  With the recent publicity surrounding renewals, we thought we would post some additional details about the process.

There are many different approaches – those who renew their vows annually, every 5 years, each decade or any variation thereof.  Take for example Mariah Carey and Nick Canon, they renewed their vows on their three year wedding anniversary which also coincided with the birth of their twins. Also, Chef Rachael Ray and her husband go to Italy every year to renew their vows, sounds fun!

Renewals can be informal affairs – the two of you with an officiant at the location of your choosing or they can be far more detailed with invitations, a wedding processional, gift registry, etc.  One of our personal favorites is when children help plan the renewal for their parents.  This is especially nice in the 21st century with so many blended families

All in all, each renewal is as different as each couple.

***A Note From Jenn***

Can I let you all in on a little secret that I have planned for my wedding one day (of course, I have to find a willing and worthy partner first, ha!) I plan to offer a vow renewal for guests at my wedding.  My officiant will likely be non-denominational and it will by no means be obligatory but any guests who are already married and want to renew their vows will be able to do so.  I haven’t worked out all of the details but I firmly believe that weddings are a celebration of love, all love, and this is something that I have always wanted to do (both for me and for others). Shhh… keep it a secret :)

There are a lot of lotions, creams, body milks, etc out there to choose from and it’s so easy to get overwhelmed.   I would’ve never guessed that I’d discover my favorite lotion while shopping at Longs Drugs.  My new go-to lotion is made by Carmex (yep, the lip-balm people) and it smells just like the lip gloss.  I specifically like this lotion because it is thick (much needed with this chilly weather), not greasy (no residue) and affordable (I love a good deal).

I recommend that everyone try this lotion – right now it’s hard to find though.  I have been able to locate it at one Longs Drugs in El Cajon.  I have searched grocery stores, Target, Wal-Mart, CVS and Rite-Aid.  I suspect that we will start seeing it more and more in the near future :)
